Nonprofit and Business Management Consultant
Joe Bryant, MBA, is the Senior Nonprofit Financial Management/Business/Fundraising Consultant for Mosaic Beginnings, LLC and has more than thirty years of experience in the non-profit, faith-based, and small business arenas. He is highly skilled in the areas of financial management, analysis, budgeting, capacity building and operations. Mr. Bryant holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Fontbonne College and Bachelor’s in Business from Saint Louis University. After graduation, he worked 13 years at General Motors Corporation in a variety of financial positions. He completed the Executive Leadership Training Program through the National Association of Black Accountants, served on the Board of Directors for the Northside Community Center, National Board of the National Association of Black Accountants, and Treasurer for the Saint Louis Black Repertory Theater. He currently serves as the Contract Fiscal Manager for MoKan, CCAC (Missouri –Kansas Contractors Assistance) Center which he has done since 2009.
Mr. Bryant served as Finance Director for Disability LInk where he managed state and local federal grants. Additionally, Mr. Bryant served as Finance Director for The Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation for 7 years, a Boys & Girls Club that sits on 38 acres, served on the development committee, oversaw reporting on $7,000,000 in federal and state grants with no audit findings. He created a 3 year capacity plan for JJK including developing the budgets, identifying positions, determining when to hire the positions, and creating the job descriptions. Mr. Bryant has also served as CFO for Provident Counseling for nine years where he assisted in managing investments of approximately $20,000,000 with 10
locations in two states. He oversaw a federal grant that converted a four family flat into a cyber community center in north St. Louis. As CFO of Hopewell Mental Health Center, he saved $300,000 through a variety of cost-saving strategies. He oversaw the rehab of two vacant four family flats and turned them into revenue generators. He has worked as a capacity building consultant for the United Way where he trained staff from three organizations in record keeping, efficient workflow, and operational procedures.
Mr. Bryant served as the Director of Business Administration for Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Fairfield, CA for six years with a membership of 8,000. In this role, he performed a financial analysis that led to the church endowment of $1,000,000, facilitated the sale of the apartments owned by the church which paid of the debt and put the church into position to buy 60 acres for new development and implemented budgets for 30 ministries.
He strategically re-organized HeBrews It Café (owned by the church) brought it financially into the black while restructuring the facilities department and security department, implemented video technology as part of the security system, added to the income by renting out offices in the church building which improved cash flow and helped pay down the debt. Mr. Bryant managed the hiring and training of staff. In 2018 he oversaw the selection and installation of a 25-unit state of the art HVAC system that reduced energy cost by 20%.
